The aim of this final project work was to plan and carry out a fabric printing course for elderly people. The purpose of the work was also to plan a curriculum and class, research Semitone®-tekstiiliväri behavior in fabric printing and collect feedback from the participants through the use of a questionaire.
The fabric printing course was organized at Suokadun palvelutalo in March 2004. Five elderly people took part in the fabric printing course. They designed and made products while the author helped them through the process. During the course the fabrics were mainly flat-screen printed. Also during the course it was possible to use dyeing and transfer-printing techniques. The fabric printing course used Semitone®-tekstiiliväri, which is reactive dye.
As the result of this work the author’s own professional skills have been developed. The elderly people involved gave positive feedback form the fabric printing course. They learned new design methods and fabric printing techniques.
The final project work is particularly relevant to those who are interested in teaching fabric printing.
