The subject of the final project work was to arrange an art happening and to study the internal and external processes involved. The main goal was to transmit an experience of a comprehensive process. The written part of the work centres around examining the happening’s internal structures and pondering the changes in the writer’s own professional identity during and due to the process. Additionally the report handles the procedures involved in arranging an event and the happening’s structures from the writers own experience.
The art happening arranged was an environmental art Christmas calendar called “24 windows”. It took place in Fiskars village between 1.12.2004 – 24.12.2004. 21 artists or groups participated in the event. 24 windows were innovated and arranged entirely by the writer. The work group’s other member, artist Ron Nordström, helped to realize the visual look of the happening.
The report presents the writer’s personal starting points and aims involved in the process of arranging the happening. Themes in writer’s personal interest involving in artistic process and art-making are pointed out. These themes and thoughts were applied during the final project work when handling the process of arranging a happening.
The work defines the internal and external goals of the happening “24 windows” that forms the happening’s outline. In addition the procedures involved in arranging the event are handled. The works of art shown at the event are presented in the report as photographs.
In the work the realization of the internal and external aims are evaluated and the structures of the happening are pondered through the writer’s personal experience. The changes in the writer’s own thinking during the process of the happening are also pondered and evaluated. At the end the changes that took place in the writer’s professional identity during and due to the process are studied and evaluated.
