This final project work was carried out to discover the emotion of well-being that weaving potentially provides to a weaver. By definition, well-being in humans is the feeling of physical and psychological satisfaction. Project’s related to elderly people in the Savonia Polytechnic are called ARVO-project’s. This final project work belongs to the “Virike-Hilima”, that is furthermore, one of the ARVO-projects within the Kuopio Academy of Design. The author co-operated with a technical professional to develop and test “Well-being meter” – software. During the project the information was collected by an initial questionnaire of 36 people and a second questionnaire of seven people from the workshop. The logic behind the research method was deductive deduction as the information gained was quantitative. During the workshop sessions the weavers made an interior textile. They gave answers to the questions of the well-being questionnaire before, during and after the weaving session. The weavers’ age range varied from 50 to 80 years. More information was also collected through interviewing nine participants before the workshop; this research method is known as inductive deduction, as the information was qualitative. All participants in the study were women. According to the answers given the weaving maintains feelings of content, relaxation, peacefulness, happiness and pleasure. The results imply that weaving has a positive influence on the well-being of the weavers.
