The final project with thesis discusses the facelift of the magazine Lääkärisanomat. The magazine is issued four times a year. It is a 32-page tabloid size magazine with doctors as its target group. One of the persons responsible for the magazine’s layout for several years is the author of the thesis. The thesis is based on a facelift proposal made to the magazine’s editors in a preliminary meeting. The purpose was not to design entirely renewed contents and layout but rather to make a light facelift for Lääkärisanomat. In addition to the facelift itself, the thesis also discusses the factors having impact on the layout and the matters limiting the facelift. The objective was to acquire a lighter, brighter and fresher layout compared to the previous one. In the process, the logo, typography and partly the layout of the magazine were improved. The structure of the layout map was only partially altered in the process. In addition to the author’s own considerations, the fulfillment of the objectives were also reflected on the basis of the feedback received from the editors and three experts in the field of graphics. The aim of the thesis, on the other hand, was to present an example of a magazine facelift in terms of practical work and its limitations.
