ADULT EDUCATION Kuopio Academy of Design offers a various range of adult education, such as specialisation studies and advanced studies, courses, lectures and seminars. Degree programme for adults Adult education Degree Programme in Design, Bachelor of Arts (240 ECTS, 2-4 years) begins every other year. The studies are conducted as evening studies and as independent studies, so they enable to have a daytime job whilst studying. Foreign students, who have previous studies of at least three (3) years, can apply to our Degree Programme. Application periods are always in Spring and the studies start in Autumn. The next application period is starts on 5 March and closes on 3 April 2012 at 4.15 pm Finnish time. Non-Degree programmes Specialisation Studies Specialisation Studies allow students to supplement and update their Bachelor’s Degree and to expand their professional expertise into new areas. The themes of the specialisation studies are chosen to provide the student with the knowledge needed in worklife. The duration of specialisation studies is usually one year and amount to 30 ECTS. Specialisation Studies are continuing studies that start every year in January and end in December. Application period is usually in September. Open Studies in Savonia UAS, Kuopio Academy of Design The open studies are available to everyone. In Kuopio Academy of Design it is possible to take courses that are part of our Degree Programmes. Any studies completed in Open Studies, can be counted as credits in our Degree Programme if the student later becomes a Degree student. These services can for example concentrate on updating client’s IT-knowhow, producing business communication tools, creating operating procedures or developing product and service packages. We also arrange seminars on various themes in the Field of Culture.
