ADULT EDUCATION The Kuopio Academy of Design offers a varied range of adult education in the form of postgraduate studies and continuing professional education, specialisation and advanced studies, courses, lectures and seminars. It is also planning training leading to a higher Polytechnic degree. Foreign students with a basic knowledge of design or graphic design are also eligible for the adult education programmes. The scope of the studies is expressed in ECTS credits, 1.5 credits being on average equivalent to a work input of 40 hours. The forms of training are: Degree programmes for adults Degree Programme in Design, BA in Arts and Design is available for adults next time in 2010. Multiform studies are suitable for people with a full-time work. Professional specialisation studies Professional specialisation studies allow students to supplement or update the skills acquired in studying for a Polytechnic degree or to expand their professional expertise into new areas. The themes of the professional specialisation studies are chosen so as to provide the knowledge needed in working life. Students can undertake specialisation studies while working at the same time. The studies amount to 30 ECTS credits and last one academic year. The Open Polytechnic The Open Polytechnic provides tuition in accordance with the degree requirements of the Kuopio Academy of Design. The studies are open to anyone. The Open Polytechnic knows no age limit and has no school education requirement. The Open Polytechnic is a means of supplementing professional skills required in working life and engaging in depth study. The Open Polytechnic may also provide an introduction to a particular field of study, and any studies completed can be counted as credits towards a corresponding Polytechnic degree programme at some later date. Training services for companies and organisations The Academy tailors training services for companies, focusing on making multi-field expertise visible. Allowance is made for the corporate product image and brand objectives in developing product and service packages. The training services may, for example, concentrate on enhancing IT know-how, producing business communication materials, developing multi-field business ideas, enhancing existing skills or creating new services and operating procedures. Seminars We arrange training seminars on various themes together with companies and various actors in the field of culture. Foreigners Students who have previous studies of at least three years in the field
of design, can apply to our degree programmes. |
