THE STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION

Kuopion Muotoiluakatemian Opiskelijat Mutka (Students at the Kuopio Design Academy) seeks to act as the spokesman for and to activate students within the college and on matters concerning study and recreation. It is represented at the Teachers’ Meeting, on the Board of Savotta (Students at Savonia Polytechnic), on the body of representatives of Savotta and through this the administrative organs of Savonia Polytechnic. All students at the Kuopio Design Academy who agree to abide by the statutes and pay their membership fee are members of the Association. The Students’ Association is financed mainly out of membership fees.

One of the guiding principles of the Association is to provide a wide variety of activities for its members. It accordingly arranges film evenings in the auditorium, sporting opportunities, social evenings at the most varied of venues, and events at the beginning and end of each semester. It also engages in tutoring financed out of funds awarded by the college. The aim of this tutoring is to familiarise new students with the practical aspects of study, Kuopio and its services. Another important objective of tutoring is to create a positive study atmosphere.
