In this final project work an interior decoration plan including textiles has been made for restaurant Pihvinikkari, situated in joensuu and owned by Amica Ravintolat Oy(Amica Restaurants Ltd.). This interior decoration plan was commissioned by Pirjo Tolvanen, the restaurant manager of Pihvinikkari. In the present final project work the importance of textiles in the interior decoration of a restaurant in creating a comfortable atmosphere, the use of textiles, the characteristics of textiles as well as the availability and price of textiles have been examined. Furthermore, the possibilities of a textile professional to work as an interior decorator are described in this work. The objective of the plan is to create a funcional, comfortable and warm interior in the restaurant. The final project work is a description of the designing process, resulting in sketches, recommendations for textiles and an interior decoration plan. To begin with the basic facts for designing were clarified, that is, the present premises of the restaurant, the activities taking place there and the requests and needs of the costumers. The process started by a meeting with the retaurant manager, proceeded to drawing of sketches and finally resulted in the interior decoration plan. In addition to the space plan, the design included plan for materials, furniture, textiles and lighting. Not only the aesthetic view of the designer but also the learned skills and acquired knowledge on interior design have had an impact on this work. The design process resulted in a new and comfortable atmosphere in the restaurant including funcional textiles. the interior decoration plan will be carried out in accordance with the granted resources in the future.
