The author is working in a photographer’s studio and wants in his final project work to combine his textile studies with the possibilities of photography provided by his work. The author has been familiarizing himself with the theme of combining photos and textile. In the present experimental work, light, digitally manipulated slide and reindeer leather have been combined into a balanced, multileveled structure. Moreover, structural and technical problems of this new illumination work have been solved. The illumination work consists of a wooden frame inside of which there are illuminating elements. A slide is placed in the opening of the frame and on top of that slide a piece of treated, transparent reindeer leather. You can see the details of the slide through the holes in the leather. During the project the original idea was transformed into a certain kind of a portrait of the author himself. The size of the work is 58x77cm. From the starting point the author proceeds justifiably through structural decisions and material choices to the completion of the final illumination work. The materials have been chosen due to their properties suitable for treating. The author has used help of a carpenter in his work. The possibilities of developing the idea further are being discussed in the report. According to the author s opinion, the overall impression of the finished work is visually and technically controlled.
