The aim of this final project work is to make written instructions to be used as instruction cards in braiding willow for garden and surroundings. The instructions cards are designed for people who have willow braiding as a hobby and who want to do products of willow by themselves for garden. The instruction cards will give ideas what to do and they include written instructions of how the product is done. While planning these instructions the author got to know theories of communications on basis of which she put together the criteria suitable for the instructions cards. Furthermore, the author studied willow work instructions in some magazines and books and graded these instructions on basis of her criteria of good instructions. Designing the models chosen to be included in the instruction cards was based on intuition and on basis of the sketches the author draw she made four products for garden. Of these products the author made four drafts for instruction cards. In the first card basic knowledge of gathering and working willow as well as terminology of braiding are presented. The card also includes an easy braiding model, which introduces willow as material. The following cards include written instructions with necessary pictures and illustrations of products chosen and made on basis of product design process. Testing of these cards, searching for a marketing channel as well as graphic design and preparation of these cards to be ready for printing are not included in this final project work.
