The present final project work consists of dyeing and
printing experiments on basis of which a fabric bedstead will be made.
Furthermore, a counterpane matching the colours, style and atmosphere will
be designed and made.
These two textiles are to create a unified interior decoration to a
bedroom.
The aim of the present final project work is to design a fabric bedstead
. The bedstead is to be enduring, easy to use, easy to move as well as it
must be able to hang it on the wall, or otherwise when necessary. An effort
is made to take the production costs into account while choosing the
materials.
In designing the counterpane the bedstead's colours and patterns are taken
into consideration so that the textiles will create a restful atmosphere to
the bedroom.
In the present final project work it is also discussed briefly how a
bedroom can be decorated as well as different styles in bedroom interior
decoration are introduced. Furthermore, beds and bedsteads made of
different kinds of materials are presented and their prices compared.
The textiles are made with dyeing and fabric printing techniques, which
are chosen on the basis of the experiments made. The techniques used are
dyeing, fabric painting, waxbatik and wheat flour resist method.
In dyeing Clariant's Drimaren K -dyes are used. In waxbatik 100 % paraffin
wax is used.
The material of the textiles is a strong cotton fabric. The filling is wad
(the counterpane's wad is 60 grammes/m2 and bedstead's 100 grammes/m2).
In the present final project work, the ways of hanging a bedstead are
discussed and one method is chosen in which the bedstead is hung to a
curtain rod.
Moreover, price determination of the textiles as well as reasons
effecting the customers buying decisions are studied. |
