The subject has been to design and manufacture a textile family by weaving for the Museum of järviseutu, Väinöntalo of Evijärvi. The museum will start to sell the products in the shop of the museum. One of the aims has been to design simple and modern textiles from the base of old textiles and the nature of Evijärvi. The value and respect of the old textiles have to show also from the new products. Other aim has been to design independent textile family, not a souvenir or a textile of the city. One of the aims has also been a good co-operation with the client.
In the work has been studied the history of Evijärvi and järviseutu and the history of the textiles and also the typical textiles of the area. The textiles of the museum has been photographed. The design process has started from the old textiles and from the nature. The result has been three textile families for a kitchen from which the client has chosen two to be developed. After that the material and colour testing have been woven from which the client has chosen the most interesting ones. From those have been made textile families “Elonkorjuu”, which is made from linen and includes four colour choices and “Kuhilas” which is made from linen and willow. The names of the colour choices of “Elonkorjuu” are “Taimi”, “Kaste”, “Tähkä” and “Piennar”.
For the final products has been woven one of the colour choices, green “Taimi” and the linen willow family “Kuhilas”. The instructions of the products have been made.
The result of the final project work is an independent textile family which includes simple and harmonic products. The co-operation with the client has worked well. In the future the maker of the work will start to manufacture the products for the museum and also other colour choices will be developed.
