The aim of the final project work was to design and make a knitted company uniform made of linen for Kainuun Pirtti Ltd.’s marketing manager, Maarit Leinonen. A knitted jacket consisting of several pieces as well as a long skirt was made for her. The starting-points of this work were customs of using clothes from the aspect of company uniforms as well as the customer and her demands. Representative dressing is elegant, timeless, elaborated and the costume must be in balance with the carrier’s personality. The costume must also add to the credibility and trustworthiness of the user. Furthermore, the user must not feel her self uneasy when wearing the costume so it has to fit and be a pleasure to use. A company uniform helps its’ wearer to create better opportunities and it supports the user’s identity. During this customer-oriented process a knitted costume made of tow linen was designed. In the process the Brother KH-970 knitting machine and KR-850 needle bed was used. On basis of the knitted samples Swiss pique weave and its’ first modification were chosen. As a result a knitted ensemble was made to the customer’s measures consisting of a jacket and a skirt. This ensemble she can use when she is representing Kainuun Pirtti Ltd. in different occasions.
