The objective of the final project work was a hand-built ceramic work of art with many parts. The work was put together of twelve sculptures, which portray running and moving hares in different poses. The aim was to show the movements and essential natures of the hares. The aim was also to improve the expressive talent of the maker. For the sculptures paper clay, which would be suitable for the making of the sculptures, was developed. Eggshell pulp was added to Finnish red clay for testing the clay. Paper clay was tested by building test sculptures of the clay by hand. Stands were made for the hare sculptures. The idea of the stands was based on symbolic ideas connected with the hare and movement. The material of the stands was low fire AR 245-clay, which was partially colored with oxides. The research also dealt with artists, who have used animals as a theme for their works. The artists represented sculptors, painters and drawers. Also tales and legends about the hare were studied for the work. The finished work of art was examined by the means of the theories of the composition. This examination covered the lines and forms and also the colors of the sculptures. The name of the work, 01, refers to the subconscious, invisible, unspoken and conscious, visible and material.
